Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Neil Young was ever an official member of the band. He just made a lot of guest appearances. I always saw them referred to as Crosby, Stills and Nash with Neil Young.

That role is what inspired Richard Starkey to use the name Ringo (as well as the fact he wore many rings).

Ringo was a nominee, and his name wasn't called out: despite what many people feel about drummers, it was a major faux pas.

Paul sticking around would only have of legitimized it.

As for the music, Ringo is a very underrated drummer: his drum fills on A Day In The Life have been cited by other drummers as highly influential.

never heard that one, was always Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. wonder if wikipedia can shape this up. it's always been a point of debate though. (oh lord not the Beetles again :P ) sorry still like Neil Young, David Crosby was a bit weird. Never got into the middle two.

the group always sounded better when Neil was singing with the guitar etc. And we had one of the few bootlegged 8 Tracks (recorded with an 8 track recorder) my uncle had made of the band. :P which I know 8 tracks quite good. But many don't let alone a recorder.. Yeah second album had young. Contract allowed him to have fun with Crazy Horse another cool band.

I had brought up the line you forgot young as a bit of a joke cause I know there's the Neil Young confusion. But I think if Neil hadn't joined CSN.. and actually messing around on wikipedia a bit further, it's still CSNY.
