Covid is trying to make a comeback in my town, 35 new cases in the last 5 days, went and got my 4th shot (second Booster) today to to make sure i still have protection.

I had my 3 vaccinations and I'm young (early 30s), however when I got covid I felt like absolute shit for 7 days.
This virus is particyularly insidious...
I'm kinda glad I have gotten it, as I'll have a decent immunity for the rest of this summer.

Covid-19 finally caught up to me 2 weeks ago. Im mid 40´s and got my 3 vaccines so at first i didnt really suspect Covid but from starting my work day at 07:30 just feeling a little tired and sore after working out the day before - I was home in bed with fever of 40 degrees in the afternoon and for 4 straight days fever was 40 and the head ache was something else.

It took 7 days to recover and I wish I will not be infected again.

Mr Biden was judged "fit for duty" and described as "healthy" and "vigorous" by his physician, Dr Kevin O'Connor, during his last physical examination in November, according to the BBC's US partner CBS.

As the pandemic has unfolded, doctors have come to understand more about who is at greatest risk of getting seriously ill if they catch Covid and what care they might need.

Age is a big factor - generally, the older you are the higher the risk - as well as how fit and healthy you were beforehand.

Doctors will be conscious that being aged 79 puts Mr Biden at some additional risk, although he is fully vaccinated which means he already has some good protection against severe Covid.

They will normally only prescribe Paxlovid to those who have a higher chance of becoming extremely ill.

But he is the president after all, so you would expect him to get the Rolls Royce of medical care.

Paxlovid is an antiviral medicine that helps stop the Covid virus from multiplying in the body. This keeps virus levels in the body low while the immune system gets on with the job of fighting the infection.

There have been 89.7 million Covid cases in the US and more than one million deaths, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

The US has been seeing a rebound in cases, which are up by more than 25% in the last month, according to CDC data.

Covid AND the Flu are making a BIG comeback here in Australia. It is of course the middle of Winter here, so not that surprising that our health system is under strain.

I had my second booster shot in June. Five family members have covid despite being vaxxed, feeling really miserable and isolating at home.

Nearly three dozen people in China have been sickened by a newly identified virus from the same family as the deadly Nipah and Hendra viruses, though there’s no evidence the pathogen can be transmitted from person-to-person.

The virus, named Langya henipavirus or LayV, was found thanks to an early detection system for feverish people with a recent history of exposure to animals in eastern China. The patients—mainly farmers—also reported fatigue, cough, loss of appetite and aches, with several developing blood-cell abnormalities and signs of liver and kidney damage. All survived.

Among the 35 patients, 26 were infected only with LayV, according to a report published in the New England Journal of Medicine. There was no evidence they had been in close contact or had a common exposure history, suggesting human infection may be sporadic, the researchers said. Tests detected the virus in 27% of shrews, a known vector for similar henipaviruses, suggesting the small, furry mole-like mammals may be a natural reservoir, they said.

Further investigation is needed to better understand the infection, according to the researchers from Beijing, Singapore and Australia. Taiwan’s Centers for Disease Control said it is paying attention to the report, and plans to start screening for the virus.

The spread of germs from animals to humans, called zoonosis, is common, accounting for more than six of out of every 10 known infectious diseases in people, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Most of the time they cause limited disease, dying out without having a major impact. In the aftermath of Covid-19, however, more tracking systems now are in place and picking up novel pathogens.

COVID got me finally as well, 2 days of fever and body aches after that it was just a sore throat. Currently on day 11 and no symptoms but testing positive on the rapid test.
